Video: MotoGP champ Casey Stoner suffers multiple injuries in Suzuka crash

Former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner suffered multiple injuries in a high-speed crash during Sunday's Suzuka 8 Hour motorcycle race.

Stoner fell victim to a stuck throttle early in the endurance classic and as a result, crashed hard through the gravel trap. Stoner was immediately helped off the track by the safety crew, but would later reveal on Twitter that he suffered a broken scapula and fractured tibia.

The 29-year-old Australian was leading the endurance race for HARC-Pro Honda at the time of the malfunction. However, heavy damage to the bike put an end to the team's quest for a third consecutive Suzuka 8 Hour victory.

It was Stoner's first competitive motorcycle race since retiring from MotoGP in 2012. He was joined by teammates Michael van der Mark and Takumi Takahashi.
