IMSA Releases Prototype Aero Specs for Daytona

IMSA has released the aero specifications for Prototype class cars that are set to compete in TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The technical bulletin, issued Wednesday, comes after multiple wind tunnel test sessions for DP cars, as the technical team, led by Scot Elkins, work to balance the aero between the Corvette, Riley and Ford-inspired Riley bodywork.

P2 cars, meanwhile, are confirmed to compete with the ACO-homologated Le Mans aero kit for Daytona, with both the Ligier JS P2 and HPD ARX-04b scheduled for wind tunnel tests following this weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24.

While aero configurations have been finalized, IMSA has yet to reveal any Balance of Performance adjustments, if any, will be made on the performance side of both platforms for the season-opening round.

Elkins previously told Sportscar365 that P2 cars will run at the Roar in a provisional configuration based on the adjusted air restrictor and weight numbers used in the final two races of 2014.

Unlike the recent release of the BoP for GT Le Mans and GT Daytona, the P class is not likely to be finalized until after the Roar. sportscar365.com
