Close To 5 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch German F1 Grand Prix On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded half-a-million fewer viewers to its broadcast of the German F1 Grand Prix on Sunday than in '13," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. A total of 4.83 million viewers tuned in to watch the race starting at 2pm. The number translated into a market share of 32.3%. In the target demographic 14-49, the race, which was won by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg, attracted 1.43 million viewers and had a 25.7% share. In comparison, last year's race obtained a market share of close to 35%. RTL's post-race coverage was watched by 2.72 million viewers and received a 15.7% market share DWDL

DWDL's Krei reported in a separate piece German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland, which also aired the grand prix, attracted 420,000 to its broadcast. That was 40,000 more than '13. In the target demographic, Sky obtained a 3.9% market share, which was also slightly above last year's number. In the morning, 60,000 viewers tuned in to Sky's coverage of the GP2 race. The GP2 race obtained a 1.3% share in the target demographic. DWDL
