Detroit GP Announces Promotional Partnership with Palace Sports & Entertainment

Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix officials announced today that the event has formed a promotional partnership with Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E).

With a common fan base shared among the two community-focused and popular sports and entertainment entities, the Grand Prix and PS&E will begin to work together immediately on mutually beneficial promotional opportunities leading up to the Grand Prix, which will take place May 30-June 1, 2014.

The relationship will tip-off this evening at the Detroit Pistons game against the Brooklyn Nets at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Both the Grand Prix 2014 IndyCar and a truck from the Stadium SUPER Truck Series (SST), which will join the Grand Prix racing lineup in 2014, will be displayed on the Palace’s main concourse at tonight’s game. In addition, the Pistons will play a video during the game promoting the Grand Prix while also introducing SST driver and reality TV star Arie Luyendyk Jr., to the crowd in attendance at the Palace.

A specially-themed “Grand Prix Night" will also be hosted at the Palace on Wednesday, March 5 when the Pistons play host to the Chicago Bulls. The Grand Prix will be featured throughout the evening’s activities as there will be Grand Prix vehicles on display on the concourse, a Grand Prix driver will be in attendance and they will sign autographs for fans. In-game, Grand Prix-themed giveaways and activities will also be featured at the Palace.

“The Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment are premiere organizations that do a terrific job with promotions, marketing and entertaining their fans," said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. “This is an important partnership for the Grand Prix and we’re excited to work together with Palace Sports & Entertainment on a number of opportunities in 2014."

The Grand Prix will also generate a special ticket offer for all Pistons ticketholders that attend the March 5 “Grand Prix Night" game and ticketholders for the balance of the Pistons season will also be eligible to receive discounts on Grand Prix tickets in 2014.

The Pistons will actually be part of the Grand Prix race weekend with a display in the new sports area of the Meijer Fan Zone. This display will provide an opportunity for Pistons fans to connect to the race with interactive activities and appearances by Pistons players or legends.

In addition, Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Grand Prix will continue to pursue additional cross-promotional opportunities together, including during concerts and other events held at the Palace and DTE Energy Music Theater in the coming months as part of the partnership.

“This is an exciting partnership between two organizations that excel at providing world-class sporting events and great entertainment," said Dennis Mannion, CEO and President of Palace Sports & Entertainment. “We look forward to being a part of the 2014 Grand Prix and thrilling all of our fans with an incredible racing experience on Belle Isle."
