MotoGP lineup at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to include electric-powered bikes

Electric-powered race motorcycles will be included as part of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend from Aug. 16-18 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The bikes, capable of reaching 180 miles per hour, are set to be showcased in a round of the FIM eRoadRacing North American Regional series. FIM eRoadRacing is the world’s premier electric motorsport series. The FIM first staged E-Power electric races in 2010.

Among the riders expected to compete at IMS is Steve Atlas, who won the World Cup and North American titles in 2012 for Team Icon Brammo. Former AMA Superbike standout Eric Bostrom also is scheduled to participate. indystar.com
