Transportation Plan Set For Belle Isle GP
The Q-itUp! Grand Prix Shuttles powered by XYQ will transport many of the expected crowd of 100,000 plus fans that will visit the Grand Prix. Over 100 buses will be used throughout the race weekend to provide first-class transportation for Grand Prix guests and participants.
As part of the Transportation Center powered by XYQ, guests will be transported from the designated stops by luxury coaches and school buses to Belle Isle (see attached map and information). The buses will run from 7 am until 10 pm, Friday-Sunday, and fans can be picked up from the designated spots all three days at the Cobo Hall Roof, Joe Louis Arena parking deck, and Marina Lots located near Atwater and Orleans. On Saturday and Sunday only, street level parking will be available in the lots east of the GM Renaissance Center and the Renaissance Center parking decks at Beaubien, Port Atwater and Franklin Street. Adults can ride the buses round trip for $10, while children 12 and under cost $5 and every bus will stop at each designated parking lot. Parking is $5 per vehicle at the marina lots and $10 per vehicle at Cobo Roof, Joe Louis Arena, GM Renaissance Center area lots and all parking decks.
For fans who want a more picturesque view of Detroit and Windsor, the Grand Prix Ferry service will take fans to and from Belle Isle all weekend long. The ferry will depart from the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority building, located at 120 Atwater Street next to the GM Renaissance Center and it will drop off passengers at the Harbormaster Station on Belle Isle.
The ferry will launch every 30 minutes with one boat able to hold 72 passengers while the other ferry can transport 149 people at a time. Passengers will take in the unique view of Windsor, Detroit and the Detroit River to and from Belle Isle on the 12-minute ferry ride that will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children round-trip. Fans interested in using the ferry are encouraged to park in the Miller Parking Garage on Renaissance Drive across from the Marriott at the GM Renaissance Center.
Ferry tickets are good for round-trip passage to and from Belle Isle. Fans that purchase ferry tickets have the option to take bus service off the island. Those that use transportation other than the ferry to Belle Isle have the option to use the ferry service departing Belle Isle for a reduced fare of $5 when space is available.
