Grand-Am management changes

The Grand-Am Road Racing Association promoted Dave Spitzer to the post of managing director of Manufacturer and Series Development, and Race.

Spitzer was appointed GARRA’s vice president of Competition in March 2008 and is credited with the aesthetic revamping of the Daytona Prototype class as well as attracting new manufacturers – Audi and Ferrari – into the GT category. Before joining GARRA, Spitzer was part of the General Motors Motorsport group where he worked on various programs including the Oldsmobile Aurora Indy engine, the Cadillac Le Mans Prototype and Cadillac CTS-V World Challenge car.

Mark Raffauf, who has been race director at GARRA since its founding in 2000, will assume some of Spitzer’s former duties. With more than 30 years experience in motorsport administration Raffauf’s CV includes working in the roles of race director, technical director, vice president and president of IMSA. He has also served as an ACCUS/FIA board member and as a member of the FIA Sports Prototype Commission. Motorsport Guide
