Bruton Smith Discusses Reason For Moving Atlanta NASCAR Race

SMI Chair & CEO Bruton Smith today said that he never would have moved Atlanta Motor Speedway's second NASCAR Sprint Cup race to Kentucky Speedway "had Georgia state officials made some changes he requested." Smith said that Atlanta Motor Speedway's chances of hosting a second Sprint Cup race depend "on how badly the state wants it." Smith said that since the race has moved, "state officials have been more willing to work with him." Smith: "Maybe they had their eye on the stick and ball (sports) too much and they didn't realize what that speedway really meant to them. But now they came alive when we moved that date" AL.com
