10/04/11 Panther Racing crew member Eric Scheumann has had surgery to repair fractures in his tibia and fibula suffered in Kentucky and hopes to return home later this week.

10/03/11 Darrin (D.J.) McMahon, chief mechanic for EJ Viso's KV Racing Technology car, fractured his knee when Simona De Silvestro lost control of her HVM Racing car exiting the pits.

De Silvestro was accelerating when the car snapped abruptly. McMahon was standing on pit road awaiting Viso and had time to jump before contact; being planted likely would have caused even more serious injuries. But jumping caused him to be thrown several yards.

"I am so sorry," she said.

Rookie JR Hildebrand was having one of his best races of the season when he locked his car's brakes trying to stop. He struck left rear tire changer Erik Scheumann, who suffered lower leg injuries. Scheumann was flown to UK Chandler Medical Center for attention. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
