ALMS feels new TV and digital package delivering results

“We established very clearly the goals for our television and digital platforms when we announced our partnership with ESPN and ABC," said Scott Atherton, President and CEO of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n. “Chief among them were attracting more viewers to our broadcasts, exposing the ALMS to more mainstream audiences and providing our fans with many options for viewing our television content. These numbers confirm – through just three events – that we are off to a good start."

For the first time, the Series is including a mix of traditional television broadcasts on ABC and ESPN2 alongside full event coverage on ESPN3.com. – both live and on-demand.

ABC and the ESPN family of networks provides a multi-faceted platform that brings the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n a significantly larger audience than previous years. ABC has 100 percent coverage in 115.9 million U.S. households, including more than 230 local affiliates, while ESPN2 is available to more than 100 million homes and is one of the most widely distributed cable broadcast outlets in the United States.

Coverage on ESPN3.com is available not just through the Web but also as part of Microsoft Xbox LIVE’s Gold package.

“These are very encouraging figures that reflect well against our strategic goals," Atherton said. “But we are not fully satisfied. As is always the case with any new initiative there are challenges to overcome and adjustments to be made. Our first three television broadcasts and live streaming events have featured riveting races. We have the full support of our stakeholders and partners to continue moving forward as we strive to constantly improve what we believe is the best platform for ROI in all of motorsports."

Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, the fourth round of the 2011 ALMS championship, is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 24 with ESPN2 airing the race starting at 10 p.m. ET.
