More new wings for Williams cars

Williams will be transporting more new wings to the Nürburgring as the World Championship continues in Germany this weekend. The modifications come on the same weekend as full exhaust-blown diffuser regulations are reinstated.

“The Nürburgring is a high-downforce track with lots of challenging corner sequences, some off-camber turns and curbs," explains Sam Michael, Technical Director for Williams. “Setup will be focused on the slow and medium-speed corners. We have a new rear wing, front wing and revised engine mapping for the exhaust blowing on over-run that has now been reinstated."

In Rubens Barrichello, a former winner heads to the venue, having taken the checkered flag for Ferrari nine years ago. 2011 rookie Pastor Maldonado is also confident after achieving several positive results at the track in junior formulae.

“I first raced at the Nürburgring in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2006 and qualified on pole, but I had problems in the race," the Venezuelan recalls. “I also raced at the track during my time in GP2, scoring my best result of fourth in 2007."
