Esteban Guerrieri wins Toronto Indy Lights pole

Esteban Guerrieri earned his third consecutive Sunoco Pole Award, blazing the 1.755-mile, 11-turn Exhibition Place circuit in 1 minute, 2.986 seconds.

He'll be joined on the front row by Stefan Wilson in the No. 5 Andretti Autosport car (1:03.245), who lost his quickest lap (1:02.8714) and his first pole start because of a local caution on the course.

Teammate Peter Dempsey, who topped the morning practice session time report in the No. 26 car, will join Anders Krohn on the second row. Josef Newgarden and Gustavo Yacaman will be on Row 3, and Duarte Ferreira and Bruno Andrade will share Row 4. Andrade, driving the No. 29 Bryan Herta Autosport car, is making his Firestone Indy Lights debut.

ESTEBAN GUERRIERI (No. 7 Lucas Oil/Sam Schmidt Motorsports, Sunoco Pole Award): "Since the beginning, everything worked quite well. We were quick yesterday and we didn't put any tires, we saved the tires for qualifying this morning, and I was feeling good straight away. I love the circuit, I love the city, the atmosphere, everything, so I had a lot of fun. The reward for the guys is the best I can give them, so I'm very grateful to them and to my sponsors."

STEFAN WILSON (No. 5 Andretti Autosport, qualified second): "I felt like I got the best out of my car and pushed it to the limit. Unfortunately I still had my last lap taken away with the yellow flag, so I'm pretty upset about that. It felt amazing; the car felt good. We made some really good changes this weekend and I was definitely a contender for the pole. It's just heartbreaking to get that taken away. It just gives us more motivation to go for the win tomorrow."

PETER DEMPSEY (No. 26 Andretti Autosport, qualified third): "We were pretty happy after the first practice. I think I just overdid it a bit. With it being my first weekend with the team, I was hoping to be on pole and I pushed too hard. We definitely have two great cars, so it's a good job done by the whole team. We're still in a great position to start the day off tomorrow."

JOSEF NEWGARDEN (No. 11 Copart/Score Big/RoboPong/SSM, qualified fifth): "This qualifying session was a little bit frustrating. It's one of the few times this year it has been. I think we had a little bit more in the bag there for sure. We had a little bit of miscommunication with an issue with our radios. That was unfortunate. Obviously, there were a lot of little yellows there at the end. That didn't help. It wasn't easy for anyone, but traffic wasn't really an issue out there today. We just had a few little issues with the radios and so on. But we're working through them in each session. Overall I think we're going to have a good race car for the race as we always do. You are going to have to be very calculated here in the race. It's a very difficult track with all the bumps and how narrow it is. Guys can easily overstep it and certainly make the wrong decision at times. It's going to be a difficult time for everyone to keep a cool head early on and make good decisions throughout the day."
