HVM signs Holtec as associate sponsor
Entergy and HVM racing announced today that HOLTEC International signed on as an Associate Sponsor for the Nuclear Clean Air Energy #78 IndyCar race team driven by Simona de Silvestro.
Over 80% of all spent fuel produced in the U.S., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, and the U.K. is stored in Holtec-supplied ultra-high density wet storage equipment and dry cask storage units across the world.
"We support the effort to educate people in the United States about the safe and clean benefits of nuclear power," stated Dr. Kris Singh, Holtec president and CEO. "It was time for us to join forces with Entergy to tell our story in a more proactive way. Simona and the Nuclear Clean Air Energy team broaden the reach of our nuclear science message as we also promote science, technology, engineering and math education to young people."

Rising star Simona de Silvestro, driver of the #78 Nuclear Clean Air Energy car, added: "From the driving perspective, it has been a tough month," de Silvestro reflected. "This announcement gives me and the Nuclear Clean Air Energy racing team a boost going into the race at Toronto. I talked with Dr. Singh at the Indy 500 and I continue to be very impressed by the nuclear professionals that are stepping forward. I am proud to represent Holtec and the nuclear industry. Clean and green electricity is a very good thing," de Silvestro said.
De Silvestro was not cleared to race at the Iowa Speedway due to lingering concussion symptoms from a crash in Milwaukee. The physical and emotional toll — six stitches in her
left knee and a sore back plus burned hands from a May 19 crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway — affected her.
The next race is the Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday, July 11, broadcast on VERSUS. The Streets of Toronto is an 11-turn, 1.75-mile circuit, with great views of downtown Toronto.
