The U.S. ethanol industry announced this week it will team up with NASCAR for the upcoming season. On Oct. 16, NASCAR announced it will use an E-15 blend in its three national touring series in 2011. The fuel will be provided by Sunoco Green E15, which is a 15-percent ethanol blend using ethanol from corn grown by U.S. farmers.

Dick Gallagher, chairman of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and farmer from Washington County, said it was good the hard work and background work for 12-15 months finally paid off with the announcement.

Dean Taylor, president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association and a farmer from Jasper County, explained American ethanol is a group of over 100 organizations working to promote U.S. ethanol and is coordinated by Growth Energy, an ethanol trade group.
