New promoter for Canadian GP

As the Canadian Grand Prix returns to the Formula 1 calendar for next year, its comeback will be managed by Octane Racing Group, which becomes the new promoter of the Montreal event.

Having been a regular fixture on the F1 schedule since 1978 before disappearing in 2009, a Grand Prix at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve has now been confirmed to take place up to and including the 2014 championship season. After sealing a deal with Formula One Administration and commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone, promoter Octane is confident that the race will be a success once again.

"I am very satisfied with the agreement reached with Octane Racing Group to act as promoter of the Canadian Grand Prix," commented Bernie Ecclestone, head of Formula One Management (FOM). FranÃ§ois Dumontier (Octane President) and his team have all the necessary knowledge to deliver a great event to the North American fans and make a success of the return to Montreal. "We are extremely proud and satisfied with the agreement reached last week with the F1 Commercial Rights Holder," Dumontier said, with the race due to be held on June 13. "I feel that both parties share an equal amount of trust and confidence that we will succeed with the return of Formula 1 to Montreal's summer events calendar."

"Our intention is to maintain and enhance the tradition established in Montreal since 1978 by the previous promoters of the event. The Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada has always been a world-class event and extremely popular among racing fans from Quebec, Canada and abroad."
