Lowe’s TV rating

UPDATE ABC’s broadcast of Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway earned a final national rating of 3.8, according to Nielsen Media Research figures reported by the network.

The figure is down 9.5 percent from the 4.2 final rating for last year’s telecast, which also aired on ABC. This year’s race averaged 6,034,447 viewers.

ESPN2’s coverage of Friday night’s Dollar General 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series event at the track, which was halted twice by rain, earned a final national household coverage rating of 1.1, according to ABC. The rating is down from 1.3 for the same race last year, when the event ran without rain delays.

10/13/08 The overnight TV rating for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Bank of America 500 race on ABC Saturday night was a 3.5, down 12.5% from last year's overnight, also on ABC. The 2006 overnight rating was 4.1 so the trend continues down. This on top of the massive sections of Lowe's Motor Speedway grandstands that were empty Saturday night.
