Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal crashed at approx. 8:15 p.m. EST tonight while participating in Day 2 of the two-day IndyCar Series test for teams transitioning from the Champ Car World Series but was not injured. He had set the fourth fastest time prior to attempting to pass another race car in Turn 1 when he lost control and made contact with the SAFER barrier in Turn 2. The car sustained a large amount of damage to the gearbox, bell housing and three of four corners. Following are his comments:

GRAHAM RAHAL, driver of the No. 06 Hole in the Wall Camps Dallara/Honda/Firestone: "The car felt really good. I caught Oriol (Servia) and overtook him in Turn 1 and was almost past him. I was on a higher line than I had been taking and that was a lot bumpier with a little less grip. The rear stepped out on me and I caught it and then it did it a second time and I couldn't catch it and crashed."
