Two Fans Heading to Bristol Killed in Plane Crash

Two men killed early Sunday morning in a plane crash in Sumter County Florida were headed to the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Pilot George Trail, 68, and passenger Barry Bevan, 65, both from Ontario Canada, reside in Lake Worth during winter months. Both men died at about 5:30 a.m. when the aircraft slammed into the ground near Lake Panasoffkee about 30 miles east of Orlando.

Sumter County Sheriff's Capt. Gary Brannen said the plane left Lake Worth at about 4:30 a.m. destined for Virginia. Trail and Bevan were scheduled to pick up Trail's son before continuing on to Bristol Tennessee. Cup Scene
