Lost chassis a McLaren ‘blow’ – de la Rosa

(GMM) Pedro de la Rosa says McLaren rookie Lewis Hamilton's big crash last week is a "blow" to the Woking team.

The team's Spanish test driver, who was disappointed to miss out on the race seat alongside countryman Fernando Alonso this year, told the newspaper 'Marca' that the badly damaged MP4-22 – one of just two finished 2007 McLarens that was destroyed against a Valencia tire barrier – has set the silver camp back a few days.

"We have lost several days right in the middle of the preseason," de la Rosa said, "so we must recover quickly.

"The important thing is that Lewis is fine and I am sure he will recover from the fright. But it is of course not a good thing that he is not out there with Fernando (at Valencia).

"He will have to work doubly hard when the car is ready."

De la Rosa, however, admitted that it is possible that the damaged chassis might be out of action for the rest of the test week.
