US RaceTronics continues testing in Houston

Buttonwillow, CA – US RaceTronics (USRT) continued its pre-season Champ Car Atlantic Championship testing schedule last week at the MSR Houston track. Both USRT drivers David Garza and Carl Skerlong completed over 400 miles in the two-day test. This will mark the last private test of the team before the first pre-season series test at Sebring on January 27-28, 2007.

Calling the test "successful," USRT Team Owner Shane Seneviratne had the following to say about the sessions: "Overall it was a very good test. We accomplished a lot in trying to establish a good baseline setup for this year. The test also gave David and Carl some valuable seat time which always helps. Their level of maturity shows and they have quickly learned and adapted to the car. The team is starting to come together and work well together." Seneviratne also adds, "We also got the opportunity to incorporate the 2007 rule changes into the test."

The USRT squad was not alone at MSR Houston as Forsythe Championship Racing was on hand as well. Seneviratne made the most of the opportunity of being on the same track with its fellow Champ Car Atlantic competitors. "It was nice to run with a competitive team like Forsythe Championship Racing. From the first lap out it was competitive so it added a lot to the test," said Seneviratne.

For their parts, both USRT drivers thought that the tests went well, "It was a great two days in Houston!" said Skerlong. "This was the first time we were really able to work with everything and everyone in place. Being a new track I felt we got up to speed rather quick and became very consistent. All in all, it was more information we were able to put aside for use in the upcoming season. I can't wait to get to Sebring and see how we match up against the rest of the Atlantic field."

Garza also thought the information gathered in the test will serve the team well this season. "The test at MSR went extremely well. The whole team worked really well and we had a problem-free test. We made big improvement on the car's set up and development at the track. Those improvements will help us at the official test (Sebring) so we can concentrate on other things instead of working on the cars' setup. I feel anxious and excited about the official test starting in two weeks. I can't wait to get back in the car," Garza proclaims.
