NASCAR spec engine on display

For two days in mid-January, the Exploring Motorsports Expo in Winston-Salem will seek to discuss both the technical and business aspects of the sport and to showcase career and educational opportunities in the industry. Of particular interest will be the display of NASCAR’s new “spec" motor currently used in the Grand National Series.

“The spec motor has been extremely successful in the Grand National Series, and we believe that could lead to similar programs in NASCAR’s other divisions – such as the Late Models or the Modifieds," said Gary Nelson of Provident Race Supply which manufactures the spec motors.

NASCAR’s Bob Duvall will be on hand Sunday to answer questions about the spec motor. Duvall will also deliver a seminar on sponsorship as the keynote speaker for the expo. As NASCAR’s Director of Weekly and Contingency Programs and a former short track promoter, Duvall is well-equipped to speak on the importance of sponsorships in the modern era of short track racing. “Sponsorship dollars are so important these days," said Duvall. “Anything I can do to help drivers and teams secure dollars is time well spent."

The two-day Exploring Motorsports Expo will take place on Saturday, January 13 from 10:00 to 6:00 and Sunday, January 14 from 11:00 to 5:00. The event will be held at the LJVM Coliseum Complex in Winston-Salem, NC. General Admission for each day is $10. Who Won
