McCumbee wins ARCA race at Pocono

Chad McCumbee won the ARCA RE/MAX 200 this afternoon at Pocono Raceway for Petty Enterprises in the Victory Junction Gang Dodge, becoming the first two time winner this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

McCumbee has 32 career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts since 2004, following up his win earlier this year at Nashville, his career best finish at Pocono was 2nd in 2005.

McCumbee makes his NEXTEL Cup debut in Sunday’s Pocono 500 driving the No 45 for Petty Enterprise. McCumbee qualified on time and starts 35th on the grid, as he substitutes for Kyle Petty, who will be covering the race as a commentator for the TNT television broadcast.

McCumbee was 33rd quickest in both of Saturday's two practice sessions, with a fast time of 162.925 mph in the first session and 162.716 mph in Happy Hour.

Making his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series start today was 19 year old Bill Pauch Jr of Lawrenceville, NJ.

Pauch Jr, who is also running in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as a rookie this season, qualified with a car purchased from Evernham Motorsports that was previously raced in the NEXTEL Cup series by Scott Riggs.

Pauch Jr had a respectable run for most of the day, as he ran in the top 20 and stayed out of trouble. He had even run as high as third until the Mike Eggy built engine expired just 10 laps from the finish.

Sponsored by Dick Greenfield Dodge, there is a long standing relationship between Greenfield and Pauch Jr, starting with his father, short track legend Billy “the Kid" Pauch. Greenfield sponsored “the Kid" in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as he ran in a number of races in the 90’s, with a career best finish of 5th at the now defunct Flemington Speedway.
