Alex Yoong joins Speedcar Series ahead of Malaysian GP

Malaysia's most successful driver, Alex Yoong will drive for Speedcar Series in front of his home crowd this weekend at the support race to the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix

The first ethnic Chinese to reach F1, Alex participated in 16 races in 2001 and 2002 driving a Minardi. Having then dabbled with the Australian V8 Supercar Series and Le Mans 24 Hours, he found his calling as the director and principal driver of A1 Team Malaysia. To date, Alex has won four A1 races.

Alex Yoong will share the track with F1 veterans Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert, Stefan Johansson, Ukyo Katayama and Gianni Morbidelli, at Round 3 of the Speedcar Series inaugural season.

After Malaysia, Speedcar Series will feature next as the support race at the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix before returning to home soil for the final round in Dubai on April 11 and 12, 2008.
