Laguna Seca to replace Champ Car race

Two AMA Superbike races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this year? It's a possibility according to track general manager Gill Campbell. Campbell said that the track was looking for a major event to replace their traditional September Champ Car date at about the same time that the AMA races at Brainerd International Raceway and Virginia International Raceway were falling apart. "It was very coincidental," Campbell said at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. "The day that Brainerd and VIR were canceled was pretty much the day we determined that we were going to move on and do something else. "As far as the AMA and ourselves are concerned, hey we can help out each other here." The race weekend would be September 9-11, almost exactly two months after the July 8-10 combined MotoGP/AMA weekend. Cycle News
