Rolex 24 Hour 1: #31 Action Express Cadillac out front

Felipe Nasr started from pole and led through the first Hour in the #31 Action Express Cadillac of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

5 minutes before the end of Hour 1 the two Cadillacs of Loic Duval (#5 Mustang Sampling) and Renger van der Zande (#01 Ganassi Team) dusted off the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura driven by Felipe Albuquerque, giving Cadillac a 1-2-3 in the early going.

Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top-5 in the #48 Cadillac but he is too slow and was consistently losing time to the leaders.

The No. 55 Mazda RT24-P struggled to leave the pit lane at the start due to gear selection issues for the formation lap.

Oliver Jarvis eventually did join the field but was forced to start from the rear.

Antonio Garcia had the #3 Corvette out front in GTLM ahead of the #4 sister Corvette of Tommy Milner.

Three other GTLM cars has a troubled start when Bruno Spengler in the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE hit and spun Kevin Estre’s No. 79 Porsche 911 RSR.

Estre’s car sustained significant damage and eventually lost the rear bodywork, bringing out the race’s first full course yellow just ten minutes in.

The No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo of Alessandro Pier Guidi was hit in the door by the spinning Porsche and was the third car involved in the incident.

Ben Keating led the LMP2 class for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports.

Performance Tech led in LMP3, and the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 led in GTD.
