Dale Coyne Racing tests young drivers on Texas High-Speed oval

One day after 17 IndyCar drivers were on track, Dale Coyne Racing took two for their Honda powered IndyCars to Texas Motor Speedway on Thursday to run two of their inexperienced drivers on the high-banks of Texas Motor Speedway.

Pietro Fittipaldi (shown above) and Cody Ware each ran over 190 laps without 17 other cars being in the way to give the rookies a chance to get used to the high-speeds and to pass their rookie test for ovals.

Fittipaldi ran a fast lap of 23.995s to beat NASCAR driver Ware who turned a fast lap of 24.39s.

For Ware, who has never driven these cars, it was a chance to prove he might be capable of racing in the Indy 500 and prepare hm to take his Rookie test at IMS.

Fittipaldi is due to race the #51 Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing-Honda in the four oval races on the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series schedule, subbing for Romain Grosjean who will compete in the 13 road and street course races.

Cody Ware, son of Rick Ware, will attempt to qualify a third Coyne car, the #52, for the Indy 500 and will also race 3 or 4 other IndyCar races.
