IMSA Sebring Hour 6: #31Cadillac holds 4-sec lead over #10 Acura

Pipo Derani led the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at the 6-hour mark in the #31 Whelen Cadillac by 4-seconds.

Derani heads the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 of Ricky Taylor and Mike Rockenfeller’s No. 48 Ally Cadillac, who sits third.

The LMP2 race is led by the No.52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson, with Mikkel Jensen behind the wheel.

Felipe Fraga in the Riley Motorsports leads LMP3 behind the wheel of the No. 74 Ligier JS P320 Nissan.

In the GTD Pro class, the #24 BMW M Team RLL has taken the lead from #97 WeatherTech Racing Porsche and the #3 Corvette Racing.

“Everything is running pretty smooth,” said Corvette driver Antonio Garcia. “There were lots of question marks coming into this race. We didn’t really know the best way to drive on this tire. We pretty much guessed and it went well, I must say. I started to see everyone else struggling a little bit more than us on the tire. Things ran well. I knew it was more about the last 10 laps of a stint than the first 20. I planned on that and it worked out. On the second stint we kind of kept the same gap, even if at times the other cars were faster and catching me. The biggest thing was the last 10 laps and opening the gap again. It’s difficult out there. The car is good in certain areas but the others are good in their own areas. It will be hard to race them later on but we’re in the best position right now.”

Mercedes-AMG teams lead the GTD category one-two, with the lead in the hands of Mike Skeen in the Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
