IndyCar: Carpenter tops Indy 500 Qualifying Warmup

Ed Carpenter and Scott Dixon are looking to add another Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge pole to their respective collections after leading practice this morning with laps faster than 234 mph — the quickest trips around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1996.

Three-time “500” polesitter Carpenter led at 234.410 mph in the No. 33 Alzamend Neuro Chevrolet, with four-time Indy 500 pole winner Dixon second at 234.093 in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
