NASCAR: ‘Big Bill’ France must be rolling over in his grave

Someone opened the window in the media center and the smell of weed came permeating in.

Hip Hop Group Cypress Hill was the special musical guest for the pre-race concert act at the Busch Light Clash. They performed their classic songs including Grammy-nominated hit “Insane in the Brain.”

The music didn’t do much for the crowd in attendance – and neither did the opening act, Wiz Khalifa.

However, most people pointed out that the crowd at the Los Angeles Coliseum just weren’t into it. The stadium was a ghost town, and only a handful of people there were clearly enjoying themselves.

From my seat Cypress Hill sounded pretty good. Just wish the media or guests around the stage weren’t as still as statues the whole time.

Cypress Hill and Wiz Khalifa aren’t the kinds of musical act that appeal to the NASCAR fan base.

The race was full of cautions and the 37-mile-long race dragged on for hours around the Mickey Mouse 1/4-mile track before a sparse crowd.

Last year’s show, I felt like it was relatively clean and good racing, some bumping and banging, but we could run long stretches of green flag action,” said Kyle Busch. “Where today was (what) I would call a disaster with just the disrespect of everybody driving through each other and not letting everything work its way out.

Weed.

Hip Hop.

Mickey Mouse.
