TV Analysis

NASCAR: Fox earned a 1.93 rating and 3.4 million viewers for Sunday’s NASCAR race at Phoenix, down 17.2% from a 2.33 rating + 3.991 million viewers last year.

Viewership was down 14.8%, a troubling trend. Only 19% of the viewers were in the all-important 18-49 year old age bracket, a continued troubling trend for NASCAR.

The Xfinity race on FS1 from Phoenix earned a 0.60 rating, down 14.29% from a 0.70 in 2022.

NHRA: The NHRA Gatornationals moved from FS1 last year to FOX this year.  As a result the TV rating was a 0.58, up 107.14% from a 0.28 in 2022.  Viewership was up 106.33%. Like NASCAR, only 19% of the viewers were in the all-important 18-49 year old age bracket.  While F1 continues to draw 48+% in the 18-49 age bracket, all the other forms of motorsports are aging out.
