WEC: Shell renews with the ACO and WEC

–Press Release–

Shell has returned to the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) as Official Fuel Partner to the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO).

A new generation of Shell V-Power fuels has been developed in partnership with the ACO, the FIA and the competing manufactures. Greater performance with reduced consumption lays the foundation for future road models.

Throughout the history of long-distance racing, Shell has been an unwavering supporter of fuels innovation through motorsport. Today, as the Official Fuel Partner of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series, Shell continues the search for performance and efficiency through new, future-focused formulations of Shell V-Power.

Nowhere is this more evident than at the Le Mans 24H, one of the jewels in the crown in the world of motorsport. It is at this historic racetrack where Shell has powered no less than 60 victories in the 84 races since its founding, including the unforgettable first-ever diesel-powered Le Mans win in 2006, running on a special bespoke blend of Shell V-Power LM24 Diesel.

Ferrari deal separate

Oil giant Shell has expanded its long-running relationship with Ferrari to include the Italian marque’s entry in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Ferrari returned to the top level of endurance racing for the first time since 1973 at the recent season-opening round in Sebring. Shell sponsored the team that year, and so returns in partnership with the Italian team. This represents the expansion of one of the longest running associations in motorsport, a partnership that dates back to 1929.

Comment: Benedetto Vigna, chief executive of Ferrari, said: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with Shell as we return to the top class of endurance racing with the Ferrari 499P in the LMH category. The collaboration between our two brands is one of the longest running in the motorsport history and we look forward to continuing the journey together as we return to Le Mans in the top class.”
