F1: Steiner to be part of FOX NASCAR commentary team in Austin

With no F1 race this coming weekend, 57-year-old Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner has been invited to be in the FOX TV booth this coming weekend at COTA for the NASCAR Cup race.

With NASCAR’s sagging TV ratings, they might be trying to ride F1’s popularity wave.

Of course, Steiner works for Team Boss Gene Haas who owns both the F1 team and a NASCAR Cup team. He has dual American and Italian citizenship and a home in North Carolina.

Fox may have to ‘bleep’ out some of Steiner’s colorful commentary.

He has become a cult hero for F1 fans worldwide after taking a central stage in the hit Netflix show ‘Drive to Survive’.

Who could ever forget the immortal phrase “we looked like f***ing rockstars. But now we are a bunch of wankers”.

Season 5 of Drive to Survive premiered last month with Steiner providing his usual liberal sprinkling of F-bombs.
