The Mexico City Grand Prix is set to renew its Formula One contract for three more years through 2028.

The head of government in Mexico City, Clara Brugada, made the exhilarating announcement during a press conference, unveiling that the highly anticipated three-year extension with F1 is set to be inked imminently.

“Next week, we will be signing the agreement with F1,” she said when asked about the future of the race.

Brugada’s bold declaration has confirmed that negotiations with Formula 1’s management have reached a successful conclusion, paving the way for an electrifying future for the Mexico GP.

This monumental contract extension follows a series of successful renewals for the beloved Grand Prix, ensuring its continuity under a privately funded model.

The race’s future had hinged on Sergio Perez’s involvement in the championship, given his popularity had been one of the catalysts for the race’s reinstatement after 21 years away from the calendar. Although he will miss this year’s race, rumors suggest he is close to signing a contract to race for the new Cadillac F1 team starting in 2026.
