WEC News: No. 50 Ferrari driven by Fuoco wins pole at Spa

Ferrari AF Corse took a third consecutive pole position in 2025 as Antonio Fuoco set a 1m59.617s lap to seal the top spot in the #50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P at Spa.

The Prancing Horse won the pole by 0.347s around the famous Spa circuit.

The #83 AF Corse Ferrari joins the #50 car on the front-row of the grid as Robert Kubica is the only other driver to get inside the two-minute mark at 1m59.964s.

Making it a 1-2-3 for Ferrari was Antonio Giovinazzi in the Imola winning #51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P. He sets a 2m00201s lap in the car that was repaired after the Italian crashed in the FP2 session on Thursday afternoon.

The best non-Ferrari is the #94 Peugeot TotalEnergies 9X8 Hypercar driven by local ace Stoffel Vandoorne in the most competitive showing for the French in recent times.

The #12 Cadillac Hertz Team Jota Hypercar was fifth ahead of the #36 Alpine in sixth with Alex Lynn and Mick Schumacher setting the best laps respectively

The rest of the top ten is made up of 7th #93 Peugeot; 8th #20 BMW; 9th #35 Alpine; 10th #38 Cadillac

Porsche Penske, Aston Martin THOR and Toyota Gazoo Racing all failed to make it through the qualifying period and in to the Hyperpole session

Spa LMGT3

Finn Gehrsitz took a brilliant Spa pole position for the LMGT3 class after hooking up an excellent lap of 2:17.732s in the #78 Akkodis ASP Lexus

The young German took his first ever WEC pole position and the maiden top spot for Akkodis ASP in the WEC. Getting the car through in to the LMGT3 Hyperpole session was Arnold Robin.

Gehrsitz’s early Hyperpole time was attacked by several competitors in the final moments of the session but held on for a memorable pole.

Joining Lexus on the front row of the grid will be the #10 Racing Spirit of LeMan Aston Martin as Edoardo Barrichello who got to within 0.276s of the pole time.

The #77 Proton Competition Ford Mustang LMGT3 placed third as Ben Tuck snatches a late quick lap to claim the team’s best qualifying of the season.

Lining up fourth behind the Lexus, Spirit of Le Man Aston and the sister #77 Proton entered Mustang, will be the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang,

Aston Martins will start second and fifth as the Heart of Racing car set a Hyperpole time of 2m18.314s

The #54 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari of Francesco Castellacci completed the top six.

The 2025 TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps is scheduled to begin at 14:00 CET on Sunday afternoon
