IndyCar: Carb Day Schedule for Indy 500

Good morning from the infamous Indianapolis Motor Speedway as we draw closer to the 109th running of the Indy 500 this Sunday, May 25th.  Today is Miller Lite Carb Day and the final practice for the NTT INDYCAR Series drivers to do the last-minute tweaking before race day.

It is pretty cool this morning as I write this.  It’s more like winter weather with temperatures in the high 40s.  By practice time, we should be right around 60 degrees, which is cooler than most days we have been running on.

It will be interesting to see how many drivers will use these last two hours and actually be on track. Race day temperatures are predicted to be in the low 60s when the race commences at 11:30 am.

Most people would not think a cow is good luck.  Yesterday, Robert Shwartzman, the 2025 Rookie pole sitter, talked about his experience milking a cow, a task assigned to race newbies in conjunction with the American Dairy Association.  The rookie commented to Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward that drivers that do not milk the cow have never won the race.

After finishing in second place last year, the Mexican driver said, “I’m going find a cow, and I’m going to milk it tonight.”

A cow was delivered, thanks to a farmer in the American Dairy Association, to the driver’s bus lot this morning.  The charming O’Ward was able to milk Rhiana, which he referred to as a “big girl”.  Maybe that suspicion is lifted now.

Here is Today’s Schedule in Eastern Time:

2:30 – 4 pm       Qscar Mayer $150,000 Pit Stop Challenge
