Formula 1 News: F1 movie reviews very positive so far
Brad Pitt’s latest film, “F1,” had its premiere in New York City on Monday night. Less than 24 hours later, Rotten Tomatoes released early reviews for this upcoming sports drama funded by Apple.
“F1” stars Pitt as a veteran driver returning to Formula One to help out his friend’s team and mentor their rookie prodigy, who is played by Damson Idris. The film is shot by “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski.
Rotten Tomatoes announced that “F1” opened up to a 78% approval rating from its critics. As of this writing, 80% of 44 reviews are positive.
Most critics have labeled “F1” the perfect blockbuster for this summer.
Rolling Stone wrote: “F1 couldn’t feel more contemporary in its focus over a sport that’s the current obsession of millions, yet couldn’t feel more like a flashback to a bygone age where a larger-than-life movie star was the only necessary I.P.
“This is what blockbusters used to look like. Come for the most impressive, lustrous car that a gajillion-dollar budget can buy. The reason to stay, however, is the driver.”
“Joseph Kosinski goes from flying high in the skies to soaring on the ground. #F1TheMovie redefines what a racing movie can be. Brad Pitt doesn’t sound a wrong note as Sonny Hayes.
Hans Zimmer’s score is generational, it made my heart pump over and over again, seamlessly working with the intense driving,”
David Thompson of TheDirect.com wrote on social media. “A movie about rivalry, racing, and what defines happiness and success. The ensemble cast including Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and rising star Damson Idris are all wonderful. Must see on the biggest, baddest screen possible.”
Zach Pope, meanwhile, called “F1” one of the best movies of the year that will “keep you on edge cheering.”
