Formula 1 News: Vasseur returns home before Austrian GP
With rumors rife that Ferrari will sack him, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur will skip the Austrian GP race today due to personal reasons, or at least that is what we are told.
On Sunday morning, Ferrari confirmed the Frenchman is leaving Austria to return home for “personal reasons”.
Deputy team principal Jerome d’Ambrosio will stand in for Vasseur and take his place on the pit wall for Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix.
No further details have been provided by Ferrari regarding Vasseur’s absence.
Vasseur’s future at Ferrari has come under scrutiny recently following media reports in Italy claiming that he is under serious pressure to keep his job.

Vasseur could be a Ferrari Sacrificial Lamb to save face after he signed a contract with a washed up Lewis Hamilton for a reported $70 million per year. Hamilton was beaten like a drum by his teammate George RUssell in 2024 and this year Charles Lelcerc is beating him a like a drum in an identical Ferrari.
