IndyCar: What is Will Power’s Fate for 2026?

Will Power has been the driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet since the 2010 NTT INDYCAR Series season.  He has been driving in the series since 2006 and has amassed brilliant career statistics.  The Australian has won the 2014 and the 2022 Championship and the 2018 Indy 500.

Power is first in all-time poles (71), fourth in all-time wins (44), and fourth in all-time podiums (106).

The 44-year-old does not have a secured contract with Team Penske past the end of this season.

Rumor in the paddock is that 23-year-old David Malukas is going to drive in the future with Team Penske.   The American is now in his fourth season in the NTT INDYCAR Series and is currently under contract with AJ Foyt Racing.

Power is nervous that he’s unsure what will happen next season, but he has stated that he definitely wants to be driving an IndyCar.

The Australian was asked about his contract talks today with his current team.  “I spoke with Roger (Penske) after Detroit.  He said we would talk again in August.  So it probably will be after the season is ended before I know what will happen.  I have not been told anything more.”

I guess we will be waiting until the season ends to find out what the decision on Power’s future will be.
