Formula 1 Rumor: Alpine to replace Colapinto with Doohan (Update)

This rumor is downgraded to ‘false’ today. Jack Doohan’s hopes of an Alpine Formula 1 return appear to be over, with Flavio Briatore confirming only Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron are in the frame for the 2026 seat.

We have no idea why Doohan is no longer in the picture other than perhaps his check was not large enough.

According to AutoRacing1.com sources in the Spa Francorchamps paddock, previously ousted Jack Doohan (pictured) will be back in the 2nd Alpine car, replacing the driver who replaced him, Franco Colapinto.

The plan by the Alpine team was to replace Jack with Franco for five races to see if he could deliver better results than Doohan.

He couldn’t, so now, after seven races, we hear Alpine will make good on their promise to Jack and put him back in the seat.

If this rumor is true, we assume the change will happen after the Hungarian GP during the summer break in the schedule.
