Formula 1 News: Norris tops 2025 Azerbaijan GP Practice 3

Driving the superior #4 McLaren, Lando Norris (pictured) turned a lap of 1m41.223s to top Practice 3 for the 2025 Azerbaijan F1 race at the Baku City Circuit.

Norris looked exceptionally quick in this session, confident to push the margins, and given he had no tow, there is more to come from him.

Max Verstappen, still carrying the Red Bull RB21 dog on his back, was 2nd fastest, 0.222s behind Norris.

How good is Verstappen? His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was close to Verstappen in FP1, but since then he has dropped back. He is down in p16 now, 1.617s off the pace. Work to do for the underpressure Japanese driver today, who on Thursday was saying that his Qualifying pace is okay, but his race pace is what needs work at the moment.

Oscar Piastri in the 2nd superior #81 McLaren was third quick, 0.254s behind teammate Norris.

Lewis Hamilton, who topped Practice 2 in his #44 Ferrari, was 4th fastest in Practice 3, 0.276s behind Norris.

Kimi Antonelli and George Russell were 5th and 6th for Mercedes, 0.653s and 0.741s behind Norris respectively.

Alex Albon, Oliver Bearman, Liam Lawson, and Charles Leclerc rounded out the top 10.

Leclerc in the #16 Ferrari showed stunning pace at times but struggled to get a lap together at the end of the session. Don’t count him out in pole qualifying in two hours – he has sat on pole here the last four years.
