Formula 1 News: Norris tops Practice 2 for the 2025 Las Vegas GP

On a track dampened by light showers and two red flags, Lando Norris (pictured) turned a lap of 1m33.602s to top Practice 2 for the 2025 Las Vegas GP Formula 1 race at the Las Vegas Street Circuit.

Norris, in the superior McLaren, is leading the point standings and looking to put his hand on the 2025 title trophy with a strong result this weekend.

Not all the drivers got a fast lap in on the soft red Pirelli tires before the first red flag flew for a loose manhole cover in Turn 17, ruining their runs.

This was inspected by the FIA race control team and, after a 15-minute pause, was deemed that the session could resume with six minutes remaining.

Kimi Antonelli was 2nd for Mercedes, 0.029s behind Norris.

Charles Leclerc, who caused the 2nd red flag when his Ferrari gearbox broke, was third fastest, 0.161s behind Norris. However, he never got a fast run in on the soft red tires.

Nico Hulkenberg was fourth, 0.277s behind Norris, while Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson was 5th and 6th for Racing Bulls, 0.291s and 0.299s behind Norris respectively.

George Russell, Alex Albon, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top-10, all failing to get a soft tire run in.

As such, the full pecking order remains a big mystery.

McLaren have improved since FP1, but we won’t find out until tomorrow which way they are going to go on rear wings and so downforce levels.

As for the rest, it looks fairly even between Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes which could lead to an epic eight-way fight for pole tomorrow night.
