Formula 1 News: Lance Stroll ‘shouldn’t be in Formula 1 anymore’ says Schumacher
(GMM) Ralf Schumacher has sharpened his criticism of Lance Stroll (pictured) after another season in which the Canadian was comprehensively outperformed by Aston Martin teammate Fernando Alonso.
Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Schumacher said Stroll’s 2025 level was “no longer acceptable” for a driver occupying a top seat.
“What he’s doing is no longer acceptable to keep his seat,” the German said, referring to 27-year-old Stroll – whose billionaire father Lawrence owns the Silverstone based team.
“Honestly, when I see how well the Formula 2 winner has done, he deserves to be in a car like that a thousand times over,” he said, praising new McLaren junior Leonardo Fornaroli.
The former F1 race winner then doubled down: “I’m also curious to see what happens there, because, to be honest, even Lawrence Stroll can’t turn a blind eye to this problem.
“In my opinion, he’s a candidate who shouldn’t be in Formula 1 anymore. Definitely.”
Stroll’s 2025 numbers underline the disparity. Alonso beat him in all 24 qualifying sessions, finished ahead in the vast majority of races, and scored 56 points to Stroll’s 33.
With works Honda power and an in-house gearbox for the first time, Stroll and Alonso, 44, will race the Adrian Newey-designed Aston Martin in 2026.
Editor’s Note: Lawrence Stroll bought an entire F1 team just so his son could be an F1 driver because no other team would hire him. After spending all that money on his boy, it will likely be a cold day in hell for him to get the axe. However, Lance at some point could just tire of the sport and quit. Every teammate has cleaned his clock. At some point his ego has to throw up the white flag of surrender.
