High Limit Racing: Larson Goes Back-to-Back in Perth Motorplex finale
PERTH, Western Australia (December 30, 2025) – Kyle Larson delivered a masterful performance to defend his High Limit International crown, charging from fourth to first on a crucial mid-race restart and holding off a fierce challenge from local hero Dayne Kingshott to claim the $110,000-to-win finale at Perth Motorplex (pictured).

The NASCAR Cup Series champion, piloting the Jason Pryde Motorsport No. 1K, survived an attritional 35-lap A-main that featured multiple cautions, blown tires, and dramatic passes under the floodlights. Starting fourth after a strong preliminary showing across the three-night event, Larson bided his time early as Michael “Buddy” Kofoid led from the pole and traded blows with Kingshott.
A lap-14 yellow for James McFadden’s crash bunched the field, setting the stage for Larson’s surge. On the restart, the 2025 NASCAR champion rocketed around the outside, sweeping past Kofoid and Kingshott in one bold move to seize command. From there, he built a comfortable lead until late drama unfolded.
Hendrick Motorsports prospect Corey Day, who had dominated opening night, mounted a ferocious charge along the cushion, closing a 1.5-second gap and throwing sliders at Larson in the closing laps. But with just three to go, Day’s right-rear tire gave way after repeated wall contact, triggering a final caution and ending his victory bid.
Kingshott capitalized to pressure Larson on the green-white-checkered finish, briefly nosing ahead before Larson slammed the door. The American held on by a mere 0.5 seconds, securing back-to-back High Limit International titles and stamping his authority on what he calls “the best racetrack in the world.”
Kofoid rounded out the podium, with Cole Macedo and Luke Oldfield completing the top five in a race that saw big names like Rico Abreu (engine failure) and McFadden (crash) sidelined early.
The event drew massive crowds, with Larson particularly struck by the family atmosphere. “I’ve never seen so many kids at the racetrack,” he said post-race. “The crowd was amazing – you guys are spoiled having this place in your backyard. This is probably my favorite track anywhere.”
With the win, Larson pockets the richest prize in Australian sprint car history for the second straight year, capping a blockbuster three nights that solidified High Limit Racing’s global footprint.
