NASCAR Rumor: Trackhouse Racing loses Weathertech Sponsor

A fresh rumor is circulating in the NASCAR garage suggesting that Trackhouse Racing could be parting ways with major sponsor WeatherTech, potentially costing the team around $4.5 million in funding heading into the 2026 season.

The speculation ignited after eagle-eyed fans and media outlets noticed that WeatherTech’s logo and name have been quietly removed from Trackhouse Racing’s official website sponsor page. This change, spotted just days ago, has fueled widespread discussion across social media and NASCAR forums, with many pointing to it as evidence of an impending departure.

WeatherTech, owned by billionaire David MacNeil, had been a significant partner for Trackhouse since late 2023. The company stepped up in a big way for 2025, serving as primary sponsor for Shane van Gisbergen in the Cup Series and Connor Zilisch in the Xfinity Series across a combined 36 races. The deal was seen as a major coup for team owner Justin Marks, especially as it helped fund van Gisbergen’s full-time Cup ride in the No. 97 (now potentially No. 91 or similar for 2026).

Estimates peg the lost sponsorship at nearly $4.5 million, based on WeatherTech’s commitment to roughly 15-17 primary races on van Gisbergen’s car alone in recent seasons – a hefty hit in an era where primary sponsorships can run $300,000–$500,000 per race.

No official statements have come from Trackhouse Racing, WeatherTech, or van Gisbergen’s camp confirming or denying the split. Some insiders whisper that WeatherTech may be redirecting resources elsewhere in motorsports (the brand remains heavily involved in IMSA and was recently linked to other teams like JR Motorsports), while others suggest the move could be tied to shifting priorities after a single season of full Cup involvement.

This potential loss comes at a challenging time for Trackhouse, as the team continues its ambitious expansion with international talent like SVG and Zilisch. Losing a high-profile, deep-pocketed partner like WeatherTech could force Marks to scramble for replacement funding ahead of the 2026 roster and charter negotiations.

As always in NASCAR, sponsor pages can change for various reasons – updates, redesigns, or contractual shifts – but the timing has the rumor mill in overdrive. Stay tuned; if this holds, it could reshape Trackhouse’s lineup and budget significantly.
