Dakar Stage 5: Guthrie leads Ford 1-2-3 in cars, Benevides wins on Bikes
January 8, 2026, saw the conclusion of the grueling 48-hour marathon stage with the Dakar Stage 5, a 371km timed special from the remote bivouac back to Ha’il. Competitors, running on worn tires and machines patched overnight without crew help, faced rocky tracks, dunes, and navigation challenges that amplified any earlier mistakes.
