Formula 1 News: Aston Martin Aramco Teams Up with Meccano for Premium F1 model
In the high-tech corridors of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team’s headquarters at Silverstone, where every component of the AMR25 race car is obsessively refined for speed and precision, a new project is taking shape—one that trades carbon fiber for metal strips and bolts.

On January 13, 2026, the team announced a groundbreaking licensing agreement with Meccano, the iconic engineering construction system beloved by generations. The result? The Aston Martin Aramco F1® Car x Meccano Pro—a premium, officially licensed 1/8 scale model kit designed specifically for adult fans and experienced builders.
Manufactured and distributed worldwide by Addo Play, which acquired and revitalized the Meccano brand in 2025, this isn’t your childhood Erector set. The kit invites enthusiasts to recreate the sleek, performance-driven lines of the AMR25, the Aston Martin machine that battled through the 2025 season with drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. Builders will assemble a highly detailed replica featuring authentic mechanical functions: working steering, a fully functioning engine, and a movable Drag Reduction System (DRS) wing that mimics the real car’s overtaking aid.

This collaboration marks several firsts. It’s Meccano’s inaugural licensed product since Addo Play took the reins, the debut of the new Meccano Pro category aimed at sophisticated, hands-on engineering projects for grown-ups, and—most notably—the very first time Formula 1 has licensed a product with the brand. Aston Martin Aramco proudly steps in as the pioneering F1 team in this space.
Matt Chapman, Head of Licensing and Merchandising for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, captured the excitement: “Engineering excellence sits at the heart of everything we do at Aston Martin Aramco. Our license agreement with Meccano allows us to translate the complexity of our race car into a tangible experience for fans, celebrating both innovation and craftsmanship in a unique and engaging way. We are also proud that we are the first Formula 1 team to collaborate with Meccano on a licensed product.”
The partnership feels like a natural fusion: Aston Martin’s cutting-edge F1 technology meets Meccano’s century-old legacy of mechanical creativity. Co-founders of Addo Play, Dave Martin and Mary Price, described the process as “fantastic,” highlighting the strong collaboration that brought the premium build to life and signaling the start of an exciting chapter for licensed Meccano products.
The Meccano Pro range received its first sneak peek in late 2025 at Addo Play’s Los Angeles showroom. Now, just days after the announcement, it will make its public debut at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair (Spielwarenmesse) later this month on the Meccano stand—giving trade visitors and enthusiasts an early hands-on look before the global rollout.
For fans dreaming of bringing a piece of the track home, the wait won’t be long. The Aston Martin Aramco F1® Car x Meccano Pro is slated for worldwide availability starting in August 2026.
As Formula 1 hurtles toward the revolutionary 2026 regulations—with Aston Martin switching to Honda power units—the team’s off-track innovations continue to bridge the gap between the roar of the circuit and the quiet satisfaction of building something extraordinary, one precise piece at a time.
