Formula 1 News: Marko rules out F1 return but hints at TV role

(GMM) Helmut Marko (pictured) says his time in an official Formula 1 role is over for good, despite what he describes as ongoing interest following his departure from Red Bull.

Speaking to ORF, the long-time Red Bull powerbroker dismissed persistent rumors linking him to a return elsewhere in the paddock.

“Yes, it’s absolutely out of the question that I’ll return to Formula 1,” said the 82-year-old Austrian. “I’ve had some very vague, but also interesting, requests and conversations. But I’ve been successful in Formula 1 with Red Bull, and that must remain the case. Nothing will replace that.”

Marko made clear that while approaches have been made, he has no appetite to start again with another team after helping shape Red Bull’s rise to multiple world championships.

However, he did leave the door ajar for a different kind of involvement. Asked about a possible media role, Marko smiled and hinted that television punditry could appeal – particularly in German-speaking markets.

He also noted, with a grin, that his language skills might broaden the scope. “I also speak English well,” Marko remarked.
