MotoGP Rumor: Honda signs Quartararo for 2027 MotoGP season
In a major shake-up for MotoGP’s future grid, Honda has secured the services of Fabio Quartararo (pictured) for its factory team in the 2027 and 2028 seasons according to Autosport. The 26-year-old French star, who burst onto the scene with Yamaha in 2019 and clinched the 2021 world championship, will part ways with the Iwata squad after a transitional 2026 campaign.

Quartararo’s impressive Yamaha tenure includes 11 wins, 32 podiums, and 21 poles, but recent performance dips—exacerbated by the incoming 850cc engine rules—prompted his move despite a recent contract extension as a show of faith in Yamaha’s revival efforts.
The rider has voiced frustrations with Yamaha’s new leadership, particularly noting minimal interaction with team principal Paolo Pavesio: “I don’t speak much with Paolo. The people I’m interested in are the ones in the garage. I speak more with the engineers than with him.”
This signing kickstarts the 2027 rider market, with Honda now eyeing potential teammates for Quartararo, such as incumbents Joan Mir and Luca Marini (whose deals end in 2026) or rising talents like Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martin.
We await the official confirmation from Honda.
