Adjusting to the changing times, SCORE International has announced further revisions of its 2020 racing schedule with new race dates for the first two events. The three rounds of the revised 2020 SCORE World Desert Championship will start with a new date for the SCORE Baja 500 (July 14-19), a new date for the SCORE San Felipe 250 (September 22-27) and the previously announced season-ending SCORE Baja 1000 (November 17-22).

“As the world continues to move forward in the battle against COVID-19 and following extensive discussions and further analysis with Mexican Federal, State, Municipal authorities along with all of our other significant stakeholders, we have modified our 2020 race schedule once again, changing the dates for two of three races in this year’s series—the SCORE Baja 500 and the SCORE San Felipe 250," stated Jose A. Grijalva, SCORE President/Race Director. “As previously announced, based on the economic impact and in support of our racers, the SCORE Baja 1000 will be a single loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada."

52nd SCORE BAJA 500—July 14-19
Starting and finishing once again in Ensenada, Baja California, the 52nd annual BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500, presented by 4Wheel Parts (July 14-19), will include qualifying for the SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE TT Legend, Class 1 and Trophy Truck Spec classes during the middle of race week.

34th SCORE SAN FELIPE 250—Sept. 22-27
Being held once again in San Felipe, Baja California, the 34th annual SCORE San Felipe 250 event (Sept. 22-27) will include qualifying for the SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE TT Legend, Class 1 and Trophy Truck Spec classes during the middle of race week. Finishing position in this year’s SCORE San Felipe 250 will determine the starting positions for this year’s SCORE Baja 1000.

53rd SCORE BAJA 1000—Nov. 17-22
The 53rd BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, the iconic Granddaddy of all Desert Races will be held in Ensenada (Nov. 17-22), as a single loop race. Like it is every year, it will be the magnificent season-finale of the SCORE World Desert Championship.

Grijalva added, “SCORE will continue to monitor the current COVID-19 status, recommendations of both the U.S. and Mexico governments and will make any further adjustments as required."

“The health and safety of our racers, teams, fans and media is of paramount importance to SCORE and we believe these latest modifications will afford us the opportunity to have another memorable SCORE Baja racing season. We urge everybody to follow the established guidelines by health officials so we can all be safe and return to the races."

Here is the REVISED three-race 2020 SCORE World Desert Championship (as of April 29, 2020) schedule of events, for the fifth consecutive year all races will be held in Baja California, Mexico:

  • BFGoodrich Tires 52nd SCORE Baja 500, presented by 4 Wheel Parts–
    July 14-19, Ensenada, Mexico
  • 34th SCORE San Felipe 250–
    Sept. 22-27, San Felipe, Mexico
  • BFGoodrich Tires 53rd SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts–
    Nov. 17-22, Ensenada, Mexico
