IndyCar News: O’Ward tops Sunday morning St. Petersburg GP Warmup
Today is the running of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Peterburg NTT IndyCar race. New Zealand native McLaughlin earned his 12th career pole and third in the last five years on this 14-turn, 1.8-mile temporary street circuit.

In final practice, a 30-minute session this morning, Pato O’Ward (pictured) nipped defending race winner Alex Palou by just 0.0018s with a lap of 1m01.5944s in his McLaren Chevy.
O’Ward’s McLaren teammate Christian Lundgaard was third quick, 0.2s behind O’Ward.
Palou’s Chip Ganassi Racing Honda teammate Scott Dixon was 4th, 0.24s behind O’Ward.
Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top-5, 0.42s behind O’Ward.
The race broadcast on Fox starts at noon today, with the green flag scheduled for 12:30pm ET.
